Job Details

 

System Administrator (Contract)

Location: Brussels Country: Belgium Rate: Market rate
 

Key responsibilities:

Ensure 24/7/365 uptime of systems and services, supporting existing platforms.

Demonstrate expert knowledge of systems and processes.

Act as a referral point to aid staff in resolving queries and problems.

Document solutions and builds to establish a knowledge base for other administrators.

Liaise with customers to ensure smooth system operation and roadmap future requirements.

Train and share knowledge of implemented and maintained systems with departmental staff.

Resolve escalated issues and request new products or services to enhance company success.

Identify network hardware and software needing upgrades, plan, and implement them.

Suggest and implement architectural improvements.

Review system logs, monitor systems, and provide out-of-hours support on an on-call rota.

Travel to various offices and data centres as necessary.

Ensure the smooth daily running of company platforms and customer systems.

Ensure sufficient capacity and performance for all systems.

Comply with Health and Safety regulations, always ensuring safety.

Report bugs and liaise with vendor support.

Stay informed of current IT technologies and security best practices affecting systems.

Required skills and experience:

Very strong IT skills in an Internet environment.

Resilience and problem-solving ability.

Clear written and verbal communication skills.

Extensive experience with ELK Stack (Elasticsearch).

Experience with AWS DevOps

Knowledge and experience with Azure and AWS platforms.

Knowledge and experience with configuration management tooling Puppet and Docker

Networking skills and experience (switching/routing/Firewalls/VPN) ideally with Juniper and Fortinet.

Datacentre best practices including in-rack power and network cabling.

Using troubleshooting tools and managing faults for quick resolution.

Experience with security issues and access control mechanisms, change management, and configuration policies.

Very good Project Management skills.

Experience with Managed Hosting is a bonus.
