Job Description

Combination role involving capturing business requirements and updating the Merchandising Catalog to reflect each product's rules and prices (eg, for Paid Seats, Upgrades, Early Boarding products, extra AAdvantage Miles, etc.). Collaborate with the Product Owners on the Ancillary Strategy team to document Merchandising Product requirements and Business Rules. Work with all teams that are part of the Merchandising Program to ensure their system requirements match the program level requirements to ensure AA implements a consistent solution across all channels. There are 8-12 different groups involved in each project (eg,, Self Service Kiosks, Reservations Systems, Accounting, etc.). Configure the rules in the Merchandising Catalog through a proprietary Front End interface. Consult with the Revenue Management analysts who upload prices into the Catalog. Assist with testing the rules in the Catalog.

Major Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Validate requirements and translate those to programmers and developers as needed
  • Configure the Merchandising Catalog with the product rules
  • Facilitate team meetings to achieve project goals

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in a technical field such as computer science, computer engineering or related field required
  • 5 years IT project experience required
  • Need someone who can dig into the details and ensure the requirements are delivering what the business needs, ensure they are documented right, developed to match requirements, QAd thoroughly, etc.
  • Experience with customer facing applications preferred (versus pure infrastructure or Back Office projects)
  • Experience writing Use Cases and documenting Business Processes to capture requirements
  • Agile experience
  • Ability to configure rules in the Catalog. Requires attention to detail and the use of an online application to engineer business rules and pricing that are to be released across multiple global markets. Strong Analytical and Logical skills to order the business rules and pricelines to ensure the correct price is release to the correct market and customer demographic


  • Verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, attention to detail and interpersonal skills (Required)
  • Ability to work independently and manage one's time (Required)
  • Knowledge of design techniques and principals involved in production of drawings and models (Required)
  • Knowledge of tools such as Word, Excel, Visio (Required) Rally (Preferred)
  • Ability to multi-task as each person will be involved in 2-3 projects at a time
