The Retail Development department has been a key area of focus for the Gold Crown - Retail Division. The group manages business functions in the following critical areas; Real Estate, Distribution Planning, Market Development, New Business Acquisition, and Installation. The team is now expanding to fill the need of new ownership and new store growth through a New Business Development team. The role is critical to our organization as we position ourselves to meet aggressive growth initiatives, while maintaining our Brand presence.

  • New Business Development- Develops the strategy for marketing the new store program to gain leads and to launch new stores in the marketplace. Identifies the advertising vehicles; website, gift shows, print and digital and manages the coordination of all of them to deliver a succinct story to the marketplace. Develops local store marketing programs for launch of new stores.
  • Ownership Onboarding and Transition - Develops the strategy for onboarding new owners. Cultivates relationships with new owners, insuring they are satisfied with Hallmark, have a solid understanding of the business and are prepared for future success with the ultimate goal of increasing Retail revenue with additional stores and increased wholesale buys. Responsible for the successful transition of new Gold Crown owners from the Market Development team to the Field Sales team.
  • Ownership Development Process Management & Improvement -- Lead key business partners to build a sustainable ongoing ownership development process. Identifies barriers (process, systems, ordering tools, etc.) and boldly works with internal partners to problem-solve creative solutions to reconfigure and streamline the onboarding process. Manage communication plans and training opportunities for new owners including further development of the multi-focus website. Lead communication team on a series of network-wide communication to new owners to meet ongoing needs and address concerns.
  • New Multiple Account Development - Responsible for new multiple account development business and relationships (includes ACE Hardware and future opportunities). Manage corporate relationships and coordinate solutions for new store opportunities, product programs for the ACE Express accounts (seasonal and everyday) Hallmark Gold Crown department strategy, placement and execution.
  • Multicultural Distribution - Responsible for establishing and maintaining an ongoing business model for new retail in diverse marketplaces (eg, Hispanic, African American). Engage business partners to identify the ongoing product mix, develop new branding, onboarding multicultural retailers, developing training programs and integrating these new owners seamlessly into Gold Crown.
  • Special Project Coordination - Responsible for the flawless execution of a variety of special projects as assigned. May include: additional marketing support for new business, trade show execution and analysis, and attendance at gift shows as a Hallmark representative.

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher
  • 10+ years of experience in sales, product, technology and execution


  • Master's Degree - emphasis in marketing or business
  • Excellent problem solving skills and highly collaborative
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to build relationships with retailers and influence business partners
  • Experience with marketing, market development, technology, customer relations, training, and product development
